Well.

I've been thinking about drawing... probably because that's just about all I do these days. Apart from (still) writing the thesis and feeling guilty because I'd much rather doodle.

Anyway.

I don't know why, but trying to tell a story through pictures and (mostly) dialogue is, though hard, also intensely gratifying. And yet it takes so long to reach a punchline! One has to be a masochist to like doing this, so I probably am. Then again, I'm nothing against Kishimoto-sensei. I mean, he does backgrounds. Insanely complicated ones, too.

I wish I could draw quality stuff as quickly as he does.

Well, practice is supposed to make one better so I did a bit of doodling on Page 5. I don't know where I got the idea to put Miroku in there, providing running commentary, but he's in and he's staying. I guess I needed some sort of narrator in order to finish this properly.

I left the clean version of this at home, so now everyone can see how truly crappy my rough outlines are. :) I'll try to do a more elaborate background on this one though, so it might take a little longer than the other pages.

I also have a small thumbnail of the cover, with a jealous red-eyed Fluffy hovering over the kissing couple. I'm very curious how this is going to turn out in the final version.

Kishimoto-sensei also has assistants. Then again, you could completely debunk that arguement by pointing out that the whole reason he has assistants is because he's good enough to have assistants. ^_^

Man, ain't that the truth? I've been slacking off all my work lately because I'd rather do fannish stuff; not only that, but do you ever get so in the groove you can't stop thinking about whatever creation you're working on next? I don't know how it goes with visual art, but if I'm really into a story I can't stop molding it in my mind. The husband and I will be out to lunch, and every once in a while he'll say, "Hey! Stop writing!" Bastard usually catches me in the middle of a paragraph.

Er, so that was kind of a roundabout way to say I sympathize. Also, page five looks cool. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Exactly! That's one of my biggest problems -- when I'm really into something, it consumes me in a sense. I can't think about anything else, I simply have to keep going, trying out alternatives and such. It works a little differently with drawings, but the intensity is the same.

It'll take a while since I want to do it properly, but I hope it's going to be worth the wait. And I'm more determined than ever to redo most of the other pages when I'm done.

Waaah! I'm already thinking what story I could draw next. And the worst thing is I've read too many hentai doujinshi of late (research) and now I want to draw everyone boinking like madmen. Someone help me!
