Have a new work in progress up at DeviantArt: The Dogs of War, featuring Sesshoumaru, Kakashi and Genma in one picture. I wonder how the composition doesn't collapse under the weight of all that testosterone. Especially since youkai hormones count double.

Incidentally, all three of them are nigh-unrecognizable because I'm dressing them up in Jedi-ish clothes. And since they're in the desert and everything it's perfectly all right that the overalls are gaping open like that. Even demons and manly ninjas get hot once in a while. Yeah baby! (I might have to do something about Genma's missing toothpick though...)

In other news, a_hollow_year has announced she has finished Fugue, which I've been awaiting with breathless anticipation since forever. It's a wonder I haven't died of asphixiation. I wanted to comment in a worshipping manner on her latext entry, but LJ just won't let me. I'm frustrated.

I also wanted to comment on hardlyfatal's latest entry, because I think when it comes to the actual writing Tolkien is an old bore, while her own writing has fascinated me from the first line on. I don't think it's her writing technique that needs polishing. And sorry about the blasphemy, but I really don't think much of Tolkien as a writer. Homer didn't bore me to tears, and that was verse and I was six years old. Nor did Chekov for that matter, or Sienkiewicz or any of the Brontë siblings.

Well, enough with the bragging.

Let's switch to old-fashioned lechery: I find myself lusting after Samurai Champloo's Jin. He's the coolest samurai character ever (and no, I'm not biased just because I want to lick him all over every time he opens his mouth). Also, the series is pure ART. Everyone who can should watch it, it's really a unique experience. I'm in awe.

Besides, I just found out I am...

You lovely, lovely girl. You're too kind to me :)

I can't wait for Fugue either... am near death by self-smothering, have been holding my breath for so long.

And The Dogs of War... well, have already genuflected in email to you about it. Snug trousers + Sesshou's thighs = happy dreams for Cinnie tonight. Mmm.

Hey there, social entity buddy!
I've been meaning to watch Samurai Champloo, but... am slacker.

Woe.

Er... I was thinking that, since I kind of blame credit you with inspiring Fugue, how would you like me to refer to you in my author's notes? (Links, LJ name, no-frills-FF.n-name)... let me know!

Oh yeah... I agree, re: Tolkien. I've always been of the opinion that Tolkien sucks, but only because he was so very, 'I'm emulating the eddas!' and so on. (Well, that's the impression I'm left with... I'm not a Tolkien scholar by any means, mostly because he's so tedious, but blah. I like postmodern, so what do I know?)

Re: Hey there, social entity buddy!
Heh. Yes, Tolkien *is* tedious. The world he built is complex, but that still doesn't make me like him any more as a writer.

Also... do watch Samurai Champloo if you get the opportunity. It's just perfect. Initially I didn't like the character design at all, but it grew on me very, very fast. I can also recommend Samurai 7 -- I think it's brilliant. Visually brilliant, at any rate. I'm constantly amazed as to what the Japanese animation studios manage to do on a regular basis.

Sorry about the late answer... I have acquired strange slleping habits over the last few months. :/

I don't know if it still applies, but if you want to refer to me, any of the three is okay. :) I'm already immensely tickled by being referred to at all.

*sigh* Your art is so lovely as usual. Such a wonderful blend of color and tone - I especially love how you draw facial features. Sesshoumaru carries that perfect ambiguity that comes with his adrogynous features that Takahashi played with but never quite mastered well enough. I can't comment much on the others since I don't know who they are, but the one on Sesshoumaru's right is quite lovely. I love how real his hair looks, the texture on his clothes, the sly, sideways look of his character. Very pretty. So pretty. ^_^

Fugue was amazing. I do hope you've read it by now.

And I completely agree. I have never in my life been able to get even past the first chapter of the LotR trilogy. And why bother? There are plenty of other good fantasy stories out there that have authors who can get the point without giving you the detailed history of Frodo's Uncle's family lineage regarding chest hair.

I've been meaning to watch Champloo, because what's better than feuding samurai? The art from what I saw in Newtype is v. intersting, so I guess i should stop downloading One piece (my new obsession) and check it out.

dogs of war seems v. interesting, although genma also seems a bit girlier than I remember. What exactly is he wearing? Looked like a dress to me...

Ah! I'm a changeling too. I wonder if this causes mass confusion when changelings congregate.

I'm right there with you on the Tolkien subject. I'm a huge fan of his work, I adore his universe, but to me he's not a good writer. He's an excellent historian, linguist, mythologician and I'm in awe of the world he managed to create, but he's not a good writer. For one thing, his characterisation isn't quite there, and his style is so very tedious. I remember the first time I tried to read the Silmarillion, back in junior high. Emphasis on *tried*.
